In Nigeria, there is a lot of stress associated with cars installed with Tinted glass. So much fuss by the police and not all the tints are properly imstalled.
In some cases i see holes cut into the the tint to ensure the driver can see the rear view mirror.
There is an invention now called the “switchable glass”. I give it less than 5years and it will be available everywhere.
It is a glass tint technology where the film is installed on the glass as usual but then the darkness and opaqueness of the tint is electronically controlled. Videos associated with these are available on Youtube.
Applications
- Car Windows (I love it!!). Police will ask- “where is your tint permit?” and you will say-“What tint?” (After turning the tint off instantly).
- Office Privacy glass- Can be switched on when the boss needs privacy or in a closed door (or should i say closed glass) meeting.
- Meetings.
- Shop windows (when closed).
It works with electrical current very light current though, so can easily work with inverters and other battery based devices.
I believe the car windows opportunity will be the largest due to the number of cars in Nigeria.
